Art and Design Education
Assistant Professor Katherine Huala earned her M.F.A. in photography from the University of Florida and her B.F.A. from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. After receiving her M.F.A., Katherine received her certification in art and design education from Pratt Institute. In addition to her 15 years of teaching, Katherine works as an educational partner with the NYC Department of Education. Such initiatives include the revision of the New York City Blueprint for Teaching and Learning in the Visual Arts. Katherine’s current research is focused on Culturally Responsive and Sustainable Education (CRSE). With Studio in a School, she is developing and piloting CRSE curriculum for K-12 students.
