Stories in Clay
Stories in Clay was a 15-part claymaking workshop series for residents of Gibb Mansion, a service-enriched residence developed for low-income community residents with chronic illness and/or in need of mental health support. Visual artist Theodora Skipitares created and hosted a series of storytelling workshops in which residents shared oral histories. These histories were recorded and added to the the Listening Bench, an interactive outdoor bench that plays back stories told by Gibb Mansion residents. The final clay works and stories were documented in a catalogue, which provides another piece of tangible history of a unique, yet fragile community.
