Sara Rothstein

Visiting Professor Creative Arts Therapy
Sara Rothstein (she/her) MPS, LCAT, ATR-BC, received her masters degree in Creative Arts Therapy from Pratt institute in 2005. She provides individual psychotherapy, and works to support families. It has been her privilege to teach and mentor graduate students in the CAT department as an instructor at Pratt for over 10 years. She also holds creative groups and has facilitated the weaving shop at Camp Treetops in the Adirondacks which has led to a love of using fiber arts to help others integrate their sense of self. World events have prompted Sara to lead Compassion Circles in educational and professional settings to experience the commonalities we share as humans. Sara works from a trauma-informed and yogic lens, understanding that we all carry unresolved, historic disruptors which impact how we live each day, helping to identify the impact of these feelings in our bodies to move through them. She believes all are good and worthy of love, which of course includes self-love. Born and raised in Brooklyn, she and her husband are now raising their teens and dog here. Sara is a second generation U.S. citizen who considers herself a small town person from a big city. She is grateful to be a recipient of the Taconic Fellowship for 2024-25, enabling her to work alongside the diverse immigrant communities of Sunset Park, Brooklyn. Sara loves when things join together to create a greater whole, whether it’s people, colors, or textiles.
