Renata Strashnaya, PhD

Dr. Renata Strashnaya has a B.S. in Advertising and Marketing and a M.A. and Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology. She is an adjunct assistant professor at Pratt Institute in the department of Social Science and Cultural Studies. As a sociocultural researcher and educator with expertise in narrative inquiry and discourse analysis, she collaborates with diverse organizations and communities on multifaceted projects highlighting the power of storytelling in advancing equity and social justice. Her work focuses on transforming systems and creating trauma-informed programs that empower and uplift the voices of individuals with lived experience. She believes in agency and advocacy through storytelling and rising above what was, what is, and raising the bar for what will be. Dr. Strashnaya is a proud New Yorker who values original thought and curiosity, enjoys beach days and memoirs, and “discovering” new gems in our great (and always changing) city.
