The Pratt Initiative for Arts, Community and Social Change presents a symposium on the proposed Lower Manhattan Islamic Community Center
This symposium will discuss the issues of media representation, urban planning and design, and the politics of community related to the controversy. The Pratt Institute Initiative for Arts, Community and Social Change invites members of both the Pratt and broader Brooklyn/NYC communities to a substantive conversation about the Park 51 project, the origins and impact of the controversy, and its implications for community understanding in a densely populated and socially diverse urban space such as New York.
Building Hopeis a one-hour documentary chronicling the history and accomplishments of community development corporations across the nation, based on oral histories conducted with founders, leaders and supporters of 19 influential CDCs.
