NYSERDA's Power Breakfast Series for Multifamily Buildings

NYSERDA's Power Breakfast series for multifamily building owners, developers, property managers, condo and co-op board members is a great way to learn how to make your building a lean, mean, energy-optimizing machine.

At this session learn how to:

  • Upgrade your energy performance with NYSERDA incentives toward a whole-building assessment and energy upgrades ($600 per unit or $1.50/sq. ft. on new construction) and low-interest loans on remaining energy upgrades.
  • Submeter electricity in all of your units, with incentives of up to 50% on the submeters, plus incentives on energy-efficient appliances and lighting
  • Switch from #6 heating oil to cleaner alternatives with NYSERDA incentives of $30 per ton of reduced carbon emissions, up to $175,000!
  • Meet the requirements of new NYC benchmarking laws with energy tune-ups and incentives; NYSERDA will pay up to $3,000 for an operational review

NYSERDA's New Incentives for Sub-metering in Multifamily Buildings

Studies have shown that sub-metering in multifamily dwellings helps buildings reduce their electric consumption. A sub-metered building features a meter for each unit in addition to a master-meter for the building in order to more accurately track electric usage.

Success in Staten Island, Block by Block

On December 8, 2011 Council Member Debi Rose, local community organizations and representatives from the Pratt Center for Community Development gathered at a special forum spotlighting the strides that Staten Island is making toward energy efficiency through the Retrofit NYC Block by Block program. The forum featured a special presentation by students from Wagner College on their research into ways to support communities getting involved in retrofitting at a mass scale.

Property owners can save money while doing the right thing for the environment and creating jobs for local residents. Existing buildings are responsible for nearly three-quarters of NYC’s carbon emissions.
