Managing Lean & Green Workshop - Using Solar to Power and Heat Affordable Housing

Event on April 7, 2010

Wednesday, April 7th

10am-12pm

Get up to speed on solar thermal and PV — how they work and how to take advantage of incentives

Description
In this workshop, Alison Kling, LEED AP (New York City Solar Coordinator, City University of New York) will provide everything you need to know about NYC’s solar incentives: who’s eligible, why it makes sense, and how to finance.  We will also have NYC solar installer, Richard Klein (President, Quixotic Systems) walk us through the solar thermal and PV technologies.  Richard is one of only a few solar installers in the New York area with solar thermal expertise and solar thermal project experience.

ALSO!
Round 2 of applications for The NYCEDC Solar Thermal Pilot Program is now available! The application can be downloaded at www.nycedc.com/SolarThermal.

NYCEDC is providing financial incentives (30% of total installed costs up to $50,000) to selected NYC-based businesses and institutions interested in installing a solar thermal system on their building. They will start accepting applications on March 29, 2010 on a rolling basis.

For more details, please visit www.nycedc.com/SolarThermal or email solarthermalpilot [at] nycedc [dot] com. To learn more about Round 1 of the NYCEDC Solar Thermal Pilot Program, please see the press release.

About the Managing Lean & Green Workshop Series

The Association for Neighborhood and Housing Development, Pratt Center for Community Development and the Supportive Housing Network of New York invite you to join us in a second round of our popular monthly workshop series to learn and share information about how to make your existing housing portfolio more energy efficient, healthier, and more financially viable. Each of the 10 sessions features a presentation on a selected topic and time for participants to discuss their experiences, share information, ask questions and suggest policy and/or programmatic initiatives. We encourage affordable and supportive housing managers, developers and fiscal staff to participate.

"Managing Lean and Green" meets the first Wednesday of every month beginning October 7 and continuing through July 2010. Participants may register for a single session ($25) or at a discounted rate for the remaining sessions.  Advance registration required - please sign up on this page.
